BRIEF

To design and 3D print a product, evaluating printing parameters avaliable on the Ultimaker² machine.

PROJECT TYPE

Group of 2

OUTCOME

During this project, a developed design was modelled within Siemens NX where an STL file was generated and imported into the software Cura. A number of settings were then adjusted within the software such as layer thickness, fill density, support structure type and scale to optimise the printing parameters for the first model print. Once the model had been printed the support structures were removed and it was then assessed to determine the appropriateness of the printing parameters.

After analysing the first model print, the printing parameters were then adjusted to improve the overall print of the model. A second model was then printed using a smaller model scale, layer thickness and greater fill density to create more successful print. Once the manufacturing of the parts were completed a report was complied outlining the reasonings for choosing and adjusting various printing parameters.
